Swansea look to swap strikers with Sunderland
According to the Sunderland Echo, Swansea could be set to swap Bafetimbi Gomis for Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe .
Defoe joined Sunderland in January 2015, and in that period has scored 13 goals in his 36 appearances. The England international has also been linked with Premier League strugglers Bournemouth, however with the Cherries acquisition of Benik Afobe, a deal for Defoe looks unlikely.
30-year-old Gomis has five goals to his name this season and has featured in all but one of Swansea’s games this campaign, however, he has been unable to prevent the Swans slipping to 17th place in the table, only two points off the relegation zone. He has made 56 appearances for Swansea since signing for them from Lyon in Summer 2014.
Sunderland currently sit 19th in the Premier League, with only 15 points all season, and four points away from safety.
Swansea’s next game is at home to Sunderland in what is a crucial game for both sides.
