Not working hard enough has been a four words that every single Swansea City fan has muttered towards the team at some point this season.
However, you can’t say the same to Swans winger Jefferson Montero – who’s been forced to stop training by the coaches!
Following Francesco Guidolin’s appointment at the Liberty Stadium, Montero hasn’t had a look in and has yet to make a single appearance under the Italian manager.
Now, in an attempt to get back into the first-team frame, Montero has been training excessively to impress Guidolin.
Speaking to the South Wales Evening Post, Swansea coach Alan Curtis said:
Jeff has worked incredibly hard in training.
He was actually taken out of a session because the GPS, which all the players wear these days, was saying he was going into overload (and risking injury).
It is not for the want of trying with Jeff — every day he works his socks off.
He wasn’t involved against Southampton but that’s just because Mo (Barrow) is edging him at the moment. I feel sure that if Jeff is called upon, he can play a huge part in the battle for survival.
Let’s hope the speedy Ecuadorian can rediscover his form and help Swansea out of the relegation slog. An in-form Montero is a brilliant asset, as we all know. Viva Montero!
