Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has made popular sports commentator John Motson’s top six players of the season.

Sigurdsson had a bit of a slow start to the 2015/16 campaign, but since the turn of the year, the Icelander has been tremendous for the Swans, netting six vital goals in 10 appearances.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 on Monday night, Motson said that Riyad Mahrez, Dimitri Payet, Delle Alli, Yannick Bolasie, Ross Barkley and Sigurdsson were his top six players of the season.

Bold choice indeed, leaving the likes of Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kante, Mesut Ozil and Sergio Aguero out, but nevertheless, it’s good to see Sigurdsson’s name being recognised and praised.

The 26-year-old has undoubtedly been key to Swansea’s recent form and he’ll look to continue in the same fashion to help the Swans get to the destined 40 point mark in the Premier League.

Sigurdsson has been voted Swansea’s best midfielder in our recent ‘Duel’ article. Make sure to cast your vote here!
