Gomis monitored by Champions League outfit
Ligue 1 giants Marseille are looking to sign Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis, says the South Wales Evening Post.
Gomis endured a very disappointing 2015/16 Premier League season for the Swans, netting just two goals after a brief stint of good form last August, where he scored four in his first four games.
The French international forward has had a mixed tenure as a Swansea player, signing for the South Wales outfit from Lyon on a free transfer little over two years ago.
The 30-year-old started his Swans career as Wilfried Bony’s understudy, but following the Ivorian’s departure in January 2015, Gomis was trusted as the club’s first-choice striker.
He did go through a few good spells at the tail end of the 2014/15 campaign, scoring winners against Aston Villa, Hull City and Arsenal.
However, despite this, Francesco Guidolin is hoping to move Gomis on for next season – looking to acquire a few of his own strikers to ply their trade at the Liberty Stadium.
Marseille – who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season – are now searching for some strikers with the reported imminent sale of Belgian star Michy Batshuayi to Crystal Palace.
