New Swansea City owners Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien have released a statement informing fans for the first time since the takeover.

This is the first time that the new American majority shareholders have spoken publicly about the takeover, and now they’ve ensured that they’re here to help Swansea City progress as a club.

In a statement on Swansea’s official website, Kaplan and Levien said:

We would like to thank the people of Swansea for welcoming us.

We know there is always a sense of fear and trepidation when new owners arrive on the scene but we will do everything in our power to win your trust and ensure there is a long and bright future for Swansea City.

We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in person over the coming weeks and months and to another successful season for the Swans.

The new owners will now officially be in charge of the Swans, with Huw Jenkins still having a large say in proceeding at the Liberty Stadium.

It’s a positive statement by Kaplan and Levien, but can they back it and help the club fulfil its enormous potential? We’ll soon find out.
