Bartley hoping for permanent Leeds move
Loaned out Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley is open to making a permanent move away from South Wales in the summer.
Bartley has enjoyed a brilliant campaign so far with Leeds United, linking up with former boss Garry Monk with the Championship high-fliers.
Leeds sit in fifth place in the second tier, hoping to keep amongst the four play-off spots in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League.
Amongst Leeds’ good form, Bartley has been impressive at the back for the Yorkshire club and hints there could be a possibility in moving to Elland Road permanently in the summer. He said:
I’m obviously contracted to Swansea and I have a lot respect for the club and the chairman so I’m not in a position to say at the moment.
But come the end of the season, in the summer, then hopefully we should know more and we’ll see what happens.
Leeds has been great for me, the fans have really got behind me and I love all the players and the staff – they have been fantastic.
So if that opportunity does come and Swansea are willing to let me leave then that would definitely be something I would be interested in.
Even if Bartley did return to Swansea, it would be hard for him to cement a regular place at centre-back in the future with Alfie Mawson and Federico Fernandez vastly improving under Paul Clement.
There’s also Jordi Amat and Mike van der Hoorn to contend with, although they are yet to feature for the Swans in the Premier League since Clement’s arrival in early-January.
