Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has expressed his interest in staying at the club for next season, claiming he’s not trying to force a move away from SA1.
Sigurdsson who, unsurprisingly, bagged the Swans’ Player of the Year award also claimed that he is happy at the Liberty Stadium, where he’s been the star man for three seasons now.
The 27-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s best performers in the 2016/17 campaign, let alone one of Swansea City’s.
He has bagged nine goals and 13 assists in a topsy-turvy season for the Welsh side, as they confirmed safety last weekend when Hull City lost to Crystal Palace. He’ll hope to add to those totals when he faces West Brom on Sunday, and if you think he will lead the Swans to victory, you can place a bet as Swansea close out their season.
Speaking to the BBC, the Icelander said:
I signed a new contract in the summer and I’ve got three years left. It’s down to the club if they want to sell me. I’m not trying to leave or want to leave. I’m very happy here. It has been easy in the last couple of months because we’ve been in a very serious position in the league, so it’s been easy to concentrate on that.
Let’s hope the Iceman will remain with the Swans for as long as possible!
