Swasnsea City midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng will miss the start of the 2017/18 season due to an injury picked up whilst on international duty this summer, as confirmed by the Swans’ official website.

The South Korea captain sustained a knee injury during his countries’ World Cup qualifier against Qatar, and has undergone surgery in Korea.

He’s now expected to miss the Swans’ pre-season preparations in the USA and will be sidelined for the beginning of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Swansea kick-off the new season with a trip to Southampton which is followed by a home tie with Manchester United before the trip to South London to face Crystal Palace.

Ki is likely to miss all of those fixtures, however the injury isn’t thought to be a long-term injury going further into the season.

Fans will be hoping that the club can secure the deal for Roque Mesa to come to the Liberty Stadium which will be a huge boost in the midfield department, especially now with Ki’s injury.
