Mesa in-line for Swans debut against Man Utd
New Swansea City midfielder Roque Mesa is poised to make his official debut against Manchester United this weekend.
The BBC report that captain Leon Britton, who started ahead of Mesa during last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Southampton, has suffered a minor back injury and hasn’t trained this week.
Therefore, Britton is set to miss out on Saturday’s clash versus United, with the Spaniard the obvious choice to replace him in midfield.
Mesa didn’t get on the pitch at St Mary’s last week with Paul Clement claiming that he needs to get used to the Premier League first.
However, following his £11 million move from Las Palmas, the Swans will be wanting to get a player of his quality integrated in the side sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile in Swansea’s midfield department, Matt Grimes has joined League One outfit Northampton Town on loan for the season, after a disappointing campaign at Leeds in 2016/17. The Englishman will be looking to acquire more game-time, alongside former-Swans David Cornell and Raheem Hanley at Sixfields.
